About

Built by the treasurer who had to reconcile it

This started because running a flying club across a scheduler, a spreadsheet and QuickBooks is miserable, and every product we looked at treated the books as somebody else’s problem.

Why it exists

The club had a scheduler that could book an aeroplane and an accounting package that knew nothing about aeroplanes. In between sat a spreadsheet, and in between that sat a volunteer who was personally answerable to the members being billed. Every month, the same reconciliation, and every month a chance to get it wrong in front of people you fly with.

So the accounting came first here and everything else was built on top of it. The ledger is the primary record. The scheduler, the maintenance tracking and the statements all post into it, which is why there is no export step and no second system to disagree with.

What we will and will not claim

It runs a real club

Schedule, maintenance and books, with a full year of accounting migrated across and reconciled to the penny before a single member was billed from it.

It is not used by thousands

We are not going to invent a customer count or a wall of logos. We would rather show you the running software and let you judge it.

The price is on the site

Nobody should have to sit through a discovery call to find out what software costs. Here it is.

Who operates it

FlightWay is operated by Hughes Technology LLC. Support and sales are the same inbox, admin@flightway.app, and it is answered by the person who wrote the software.

Payments from your members go through the club’s own Stripe account into the club’s own bank account. We do not take a cut of member money and it does not pass through us.

How we handle your club’s data

What FlightWay is not

It is not a flight school platform: there is no syllabus, course or student progress tracking. It is not a general accounting package: no payroll, no sales tax, no bank feeds, no budgeting. And the maintenance tracking is an aid, not the legal record, which stays with the signed logbook entry and the IA’s signature.

Saying so plainly is cheaper for everyone than finding out in month three.

Talk to the person who built it

If you are the one who would have to reconcile this, ask the awkward question. You will get a real answer, by email, within a day.
